The University of Manchester showcased the 2nd Festival of Public Health UK on July 4th 2013, attracting delegates from across the UK spanning many public health professions.
Dr Arpana Verma leading the Manchester Urban Collaboration on Health department developed the conference in conjunction with key individuals within the Institute of Population Health as well receiving support from Professor Kevin Ward (cities@manchester) and Professor Ian Jacobs and the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre who received prizes for their services to Health and Wellbeing.
With plenary lectures by Professor Sir Liam Donaldson, Professor Ian Jacobs, Professor David Colquhoun, Professor John Newton, Professor Darren Shickle, Alex Ross and Alexia Tonnel, the conference was an enormous success. It was extremely well attended and the overall feedback was excellent.
The Festival saw the launch of the 11th International Conference on Urban Health which was held here in Manchester from 4th-7th March 2014 providing considerable revenue and greatly enhancing the international profile of both the University of Manchester and the City of Manchester as a whole.
