In this session, students will be introduced to techniques that are used to try and estimate causal effects. The concepts of moderation, mediation and the human genome will also be introduced. In particular, two state-of-the-art approaches: Mendelian randomization and colocalization, and their applications using specific software and the challenges of dealing with big data will be introduced.
