British Nordic Walking

Trafford Community Leisure Trust currently operates the major leisure facilities in Trafford, and is a non-profit distributing organisation, meaning any surplus that is generated is reinvested back into the facilities it operates. This reinvestment allows the Trust and the facilities to constantly grow and improve to the benefit of our users. Sport Trafford is the name for Trafford's Sport Development team working to the remit of 'More People, More Active, More Often', as part of the larger organisation TCLT. To enable this to be accomplished we have a team of Development Officers whose main focus is on developing 7 Key theme’s in volunteering, clubs, coaching, competitions & specific sports, schools, disability and physical activity. This is in line with the national and local targets and is aimed at supporting people to increase participation in sport and physical activity. Under physical activity opportunities we deliver our walking scheme, STRIDE, as part of the national Walking for Health scheme of which Nordic Walking is a part of. At the Festival of Public Health we will be offering Nordic Walking taster sessions for you to try. We will give you a brief understanding of the basic techniques of Nordic Walking and the benefits it holds. We will also have an information stand to showcase the work we are doing within TCLT.
