CANCER RESEARCH UK

CANCER RESEARCH UK funds scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner. We also provide a wide range of health information, services and resources to the public and health professionals. Attending the festival today are representatives of the Talk Cancer training programme.

RAISING CANCER AWARENESS IN THE COMMUNITY: TALK CANCER TRAINING PROGRAMME

Talk Cancer is a training programme to help people feel confident talking about ways to reduce the risk of cancer, spotting cancer early and screening.

Our hands-on, positive workshops and ongoing support help trainees to:

  • understand the key messages around cancer awareness
  • improve their confidence and 'know how' to make the most of conversations
  • encourage people to make healthy lifestyle changes, use local services and see their doctor with any concerns

The workshops are down-to-earth, friendly and practical. They're led by trainers with nursing backgrounds and years of experience talking to the public on the Cancer Awareness Roadshow. They've got a knack for putting people at ease and making cancer and health easier to talk about.

Talk Cancer training is backed up by the latest evidence around cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening.
