Community Engagement in hard times (Health Together, Leeds Metropolitan University)

In this workshop we will be exploring how to effectively engage communities in public health commissioning and delivery. We will debate the challenges and opportunities presented by the current context of service reorganisation, cuts in public sector spending and welfare benefits, recession and austerity. We will argue that roles such as community health champions can be an effective means of engaging marginalised communities and share the developing evidence base for this form of engagement.
