International Festival of Public Health

CSC Nigeria virtual workshop 2018

Greetings,

We are sorry not to be with you this year. However we have put together a set of resources that are tailored to your last year of the programme, which is either your final year of taught units, or your dissertation year.

The materials either focus on different aspects of ‘Academic writing’orwhat we are calling ‘Moving on’ (see left hand tab) and these can be accessed by clicking on the links in the menu on the left-hand side of this page. A number of our Alumni have written telling us about their experiences in;

  1. · Writing for publication
  2. · Considering a Ph.D.
  3. · Making the most of your new public health qualification

Some of them are for you to work through individually and others offer you the opportunity to do some work yourself and obtain feedback either from myself (on synthesis) or from the University Language centre (concerning your academic writing in general). When you have completed the Moving on section please contact me (Katie.reed@manchester.ac.uk) and arrange a SKYPE meeting or WhatsApp call to review ‘where you are now’ and also to discuss your own plans and ideas for the future.

As you can see from ‘Moving on’ we like to keep in contact with our Alumni, most obviously to provide references for new jobs and Ph.D. applications, but also to hear about your publications and career changes. Perhaps we will also see a few of you for your graduation, whether for PG Dip or MPH in the next year.

All the very best

Katie & Judith
