Catherine trained as a Registered Nurse, Midwife and Health Visitor and has worked in senior leadership positions widely across the National Health Service and other public and private sector organisations in the UK, as well as extensively overseas. She is an experienced qualified executive coach, public speaker, lecturer, facilitator and consultant.
Catherine has a wealth of experience in designing and delivering whole systems public health leadership and improvement programmes. She trained in improvement methodologies at the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in Boston, USA and has undertaken international healthcare improvement and leadership development work in the UK, Uganda, India, South Africa, Australia, China, the USA, as well as many European countries.
For the last 10 years Catherine worked as National Programme Director at the Centre of Public Policy and Health at Durham University, designing and delivering numerous national and international public health systems leadership programmes and working globally with the World Health Organization designing and delivering ‘Health in All Policies’ training - including Suriname, Uzbekistan, Copenhagen, Antigua, Jamaica and the UK.
The 3 year global campaign Nursing Now, aims to raise the profile and status of nurses and midwives across the globe – a key component of strengthening health systems and achieving Universal Health Coverage, SDGs and other global health targets.
